Copcan Civil, part of Norland Limited, is a leader in civil contracting, construction management, environmental contracting, forestry, demolition, and aggregate sales across British Columbia. Our expertise spans a wide range of services, ensuring we can meet the diverse needs of our clients.

We are in search of Forepersons in the Kootenay region, with extensive knowledge and experience in urban pipelaying and road building.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead the crew on site, directing daily work and staying actively engaged alongside your team.
• Motivate and guide crew members to deliver work efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.
• Take ownership of safety, quality, and environmental protection for all assigned activities.
• Read, interpret, and execute work based on project drawings, specifications, and plans.
• Maintain accurate daily records, including crew and equipment hours, material deliveries, production quantities, and site activity summaries.
• Coordinate closely with the Project Superintendent to plan work, align priorities, and ensure the right resources are in place.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil construction.
• Strong, confident communication skills and the ability to work effectively with crews and supervisors.
• A solid work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a collaborative, team-first mindset.
• Working knowledge of WorkSafe regulations and recognized industry best practices.
• A valid driver's licence.
• Outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Extended hours as required to meet project schedules.
• Travel within the region, with the ability to work away from home when project needs require it.

Compensation:

This is a Unionized position and will earn Union wages and will have access to extended Union healthcare and benefits, a Union-sponsored pension plan, and additional training through the Training Plan. Expected hourly rate: Unionized wage range for this position is $ $XX per hour (based on candidate's experience), plus X% vacation/statutory holiday pay.
