Salary:
Maintenance Service Worker 1 (MSW1) – Park Maintenance Worker 1:
$ $26.00 per hour
Maintenance Service Worker 3 (MSW3) – Park Maintenance Crew Lead:
$ $32.08 per hour
In addition to regular wages, regular Wage employees receive 11.6% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:
- 5.6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
- 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
In addition to the regular wages and the additional pay in lieu of benefits and vacation, regular wage employees are entitled to shift premium pay:
- $3.25 per hour for weekends and holidays
- $2.75 per hour for evenings

We are looking for highly motivated, well-organized, responsible Maintenance Workers for the 2026 summer season. Individuals will be part of a team accountable for providing regular maintenance and operational duties that support the day-to-day operation of campgrounds, day use areas, facilities, and trail systems.

We are currently looking to hire:
- 22 Park Maintenance Workers (MSW1).
- 5 Park Maintenance Crew Leads (MSW3).
As a Park Maintenance Service Worker (MSW1), duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Daily cleaning of washroom facilities, campground sites, and other facilities.
- Performing groundskeeping and landscaping duties, such as lawn maintenance, invasive plant management, beach cleaning, and trail maintenance.
- Performing routine and preventative maintenance on infrastructure, vehicles and equipment.
- Operating equipment such as mowers, trimmers, utility vehicles, etc.
- Installing and maintaining signage.
- Reporting all maintenance concerns to Crew Leads and Maintenance Supervisors.
- Being familiar with and practicing all pertinent Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policies, procedures and protocols as well as the Facility Emergency Response Plan and protocols.
- Completing administrative tasks such as timesheets, expense claims, commencement and termination paperwork, and online courses.
As the Park Maintenance Crew Lead (MSW3), primary duties include assisting with and performing (MSW1) duties in addition to some front-line administrative and supervisory tasks such as:
- Onsite lead for MSW1 staff; accountable for leading day-to-day maintenance duties.
- Complete daily tail-gate meetings and safety inspections.
- Conduct water testing for small water systems.
- Assist with playground routine inspections and maintenance.
- Maintain trails, roads and parking lot areas.
- Maintain beaches, campground sites and day use areas.
- Operates heavy equipment such as skid steers and single axle dump trucks.
- Operates chainsaws, brushsaws and other higher risk equipment.
- Assists with water and wastewater system start-up/shut down and operations.
All positions will require you to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, up to 40 hours per week. Maintenance staff must be able to perform physical duties outdoors in all weather conditions.

QualificationsEducation and Experience required:
Park Maintenance Worker – Maintenance Service Worker 1
- Some high school education OR directly related experience based on one year of experience for one year of education.
Park Maintenance Crew Lead – Maintenance Service Worker 3
- Some high school education, related training, and two years of related experience OR directly related experience based on one year of experience for one year of education and some supervisory experience.
Additional Assets to be successful in either role:
- Experience with hand and power tools; good working knowledge in the operation, maintenance, and safety of small equipment.
- Experience working in custodial, landscaping, or similar positions.
- Chainsaw certification and Skid Steer certification.
- Exceptional communication skills and comfort level in dealing with difficult customer interactions or complaints.
- Experience working within a campground setting.

NotesTerms of Employment:
For the Park Maintenance Worker role (up to 22 positions):
- Mid-April or early May start to early or late September end date.
For the Park Maintenance Crew Lead role (up to 5 positions):
- Early April start date to mid or late October end date.
For all positions:
- Access to reliable transportation to and from place of work.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent will be required.
- Final Candidates will be required to provide a standard 3-year Driver's Abstract prior to commencement. Depending on location, may require a 5-year commercial Driver's Abstract.
- Prior to hire, recognized current intermediate Standard First Aid and CPR Level "C"/AED Certificate is needed.
- Adherence to Alberta Parks Uniform Policy; all personal protective equipment is provided; Certified Safety footwear is not provided, but candidates will be reimbursed for a portion of the cost.
- These positions will require outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions.
- Training sessions at the beginning of employment are mandatory (late April/early May).
- Staff housing may be available in Aspen Beach Provincial Park, Pigeon Lake Provincial Park, and Red Lodge Provincial Park.
Maintenance Workers may encounter emotionally challenging situations, participate in conflict resolution, interact with irritated or difficult visitors or provide support during emergencies events or incidents. Applicants should be prepared to manage these circumstances with composure, sound judgment, and effective communication skills.
