Overview:

Our client is an international mining technology company with research and development operations in the Vancouver area.

They are currently searching for a hands-on, detail-oriented Electrical Technologist to join their engineering and production team. The ideal candidate will be an ECET or Electrical Diploma program graduate with strong practical skills in soldering, wiring harness fabrication, test bench setup, and circuit troubleshooting.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both technical design support and hands-on assembly or testing work in a dynamic R&D or manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform soldering (through-hole and surface-mount) and crimping to build electrical and electronic assemblies.
  • Build, label, and test wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and control panels according to schematics and drawings.
  • Maintain neat and well-organized wiring practices using standard methods (heat shrink, labelling, etc.).
  • Set up and operate test benches and diagnostic equipment for component, subsystem, and final system validation.
  • Perform continuity, insulation, and voltage tests on electrical circuits.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in prototypes and production assemblies.
  • Support engineers during prototype validation, debugging, and verification stages.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Document test results, build notes, and non-conformance reports.
  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date documentation for test procedures and harness layouts.
  • Manage electrical inventory, ensuring accurate stock levels and part traceability.
  • Support component ordering, supplier coordination, and tracking of lead times.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the testing lab.
  • Help maintain an organized and efficient parts storage system.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering Technology (ECET) or an equivalent accredited program.
  • 2+ years of industry experience, ideally in a manufacturing or product development environment
  • Solid understanding of basic electrical theory, Ohm's Law, and AC/DC circuits.
  • Proficiency in soldering, wiring, and use of standard electrical tools (crimpers, strippers, multimeters, oscilloscopes).
  • Experience reading schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Familiarity with test benches, lab instrumentation, and safe electrical testing practices.
  • Experience with inventory management systems or basic ERP tools (asset).
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a small team.

Additional (Bonus) Skills:

  • Experience with PCB rework or prototype builds.
  • Basic CAD or wiring diagram software knowledge (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or Altium).
  • Knowledge of electromechanical systems, relays, sensors, and PLCs.
  • Understanding of ESD handling procedures.
  • Experience with BEV/Automotive

Compensation:

$75,000-95,000 base salary plus benefits.
