Sr. Mechanical Designer

Introduction We are looking for a permanent full-time Sr. Mechanical Designer to join either our Saskatoon, Regina, or Calgary team This position will be reporting to the Mechanical Design Supervisor. Position Overview

Primary Responsibilities

• Create 3D CAD models (mechanical and layout) for brown- and green-field projects in the mining and heavy industrial sectors
• Interpret engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for piping, process equipment, material handling equipment, dust collection, heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems (HVAC), and structural systems (e.g., buildings, plants, trestles, platforms, and concrete)
• Create drawings and specifications for piping, process equipment, material handling equipment, dust collection, heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems (HVAC), and structural systems (e.g., buildings, plants, trestles, platforms, and concrete foundations)
• Create general arrangement drawings for piping, material handling equipment, dust collection and HVAC equipment, and supporting structures
• Assist in the preparation of bill of materials and cost estimates
• Maintain efficient inter-disciplinary communication
• Inspect mechanical installations and construction
• Assist in the preparation of proposal documents
• Mentor junior Mechanical Designers
• Site visits may be required to take field measurements and gather relevant site/project information
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Formal education and training in mechanical drafting and design from a recognized institution
• 10+ years of relevant experience
• Significant experience in 3D modeling in Autodesk software packages such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant3D, and Navisworks is a requirement for this position
• Experience in the mining industry and/or experience in heavy industrial work with brown- and green-field projects
• Hands on and extensive experience in one of the following modeling and drafting software is considered an asset: Bentley MicroStation, AVEVA E3D or similar
• Experience in SolidWorks, Bentley Openbuildings, AutoCAD MEP, and Revit is considered an asset
• Working knowledge in material handling of bulk solids
• Detail-oriented with a passion to create high quality deliverables
• Must be able to work as part of a team and independently
• Excellent communication skills
