Description: There are various groups that run experiments on laboratory instruments, analyze the output and support scientific decisions through the analysis. These analyses often involve multiple-step workflows that must be assembled on demand from a variety of stand-alone, command-line tools. There is a need for a solution that allows scientists with little computational knowledge to collect data, configure analyses using a web UI, and execute multi-step workflows. This system also must provide a common programmatic framework for the management of data and its descriptive metadata, and also provide key visualizations of the data using interactive web interfaces. One of the research groups is Proteomics, who utilizes technology including lab instruments such as mass spectrometers to analyze the protein components of cells and tissues in a high-throughput way. While the system being developed is generalized to support many laboratory workflows, proteomics presents a compelling first use case as the raw data that is generated must be processed through a set of different tools before the data can be interpreted. These separate tools must work together in a coordinated fashion at scale. We're searching for a Business Analyst to The Bluecopper system whose purpose is to facilitate the analysis and visualization of laboratory data with analysis pipelines and metadata management, focusing first on proteomic analyses.

Communication and collaboration between the business and IT :

• Working closely with Product Owner, Delivery manager, UX designer, support team and development team to find optimal solutions
• Working closely with Product Owner to assure the good understanding of the needs of business in changing scientific landscape
• Translating and simplifying requirements
• Backlog , Release and Roadmap management and communication
• Produce written documentation to support the team work
• Ensuring the project team shares the product vision
• Providing business context to the development team and inspiring them to optimize and aim for a better IT product
• Working with business stakeholders, interpreting and translating their needs into a consistent vision of a product
• Help troubleshooting technical issues

Education:

• Bachelor/Master degree in related fields (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematical Engineering, Information Systems) or related fields (or equivalent work-related experience)

Technical skills:

• At least 5 years' experience in IT software delivery
• Proficient in business analysis tools
• Proficient in creating User Stories, both business and technical
• Operate on agile tools like Jira
• Create technical diagrams to illustrate the workflows and system dependencies
• Knowledge of visualization tools like Lucid chart, Miro, Visio, UML, etc.
• Good understanding of modern architectures like cloud deployment, high performance computing, containers, API, etc.
• Experience with systems dedicated to data management and analysis
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle
• Experience and understanding of agile
• Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced and evolving environments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to quickly produce clearly written, well-organized documentation; excellent presentation and meeting facilitation skills
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to explain complex concepts with clarity and simplicity
• Ability to write software requirements in a form of User stories/Use cases
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work in a multinational team environment
• Experience in working in scientific environment (preferred)
• Experience in software development in Python (preferred)
• Domain Knowledge (nice to have)
• Knowledge of laboratory processes and environment
• Knowledge in Molecular Biology/Protein Science:
• Cloning
• Sequencing and alignment
• Protein analysis

Soft skills:

• Fluent in English
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong ownership and accountability mindset
• Agile mindset and experience in agile delivery methodologies such as Scrum, etc.
• Experience in working in a global environment
• Quick learner
• Self-organized, reliable and precise
