COMPANY OVERVIEW
The Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV) is a joint venture owned by three Prairie centrals created to digitally transform and modernize payment services for credit unions in the Prairies. PPJV's goal is to ensure prairie credit unions are competitive in payments and have access to efficient, modernized payments processing infrastructure. PPJV invites candidates to apply from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.
Role Summary
PPJV is in the middle of a major payments modernization journey, and we're looking for a Product Manager with a strong product mindset and a go-getter attitude to lead our payments products. In this role, you will own the end-to-end strategy, roadmap, and performance of our payment services. You'll focus on building and enhancing secure, reliable, and customer-centric solutions while ensuring compliance with Payments Canada regulations. You will work closely with internal teams, vendors, and financial institution clients to translate business needs into impactful product outcomes. If you are someone who is curious, adaptable, and eager to learn—and ideally bring experience in payments or financial services—you will thrive here.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Development
- Develop and clearly communicate the product vision and strategy to internal and external stakeholders.
- Define and prioritize features, enhancements, and new offerings based on customer needs, regulatory changes, and market trends.
- Ensure the product strategy aligns with PPJV's broader payments modernization initiatives and compliance standards.
- Monitor payment service's P&L closely and define pricing strategy
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure payment services comply with Payments Canada rules, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Partner with compliance, legal, and risk teams to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with payments products
Product Roadmap & Lifecycle Management
- Build and maintain a product roadmap for payment services, including release scope and prioritization.
- Manage the full product lifecycle from concept and discovery through launch, adoption, and ongoing optimization.
- Collaborate with technology teams and external vendors to deliver product updates, fixes, and new capabilities on time.
Market Insight & Commercial Strategy
- Conduct market and competitive research to understand customer needs, industry trends, and emerging opportunities in various payments areas
- Develop business cases and pricing strategies for new and existing payment services.
Operational Excellence
- Work with operations and IT to optimize payments processing, ensuring transactions are accurate, timely, and efficient.
- Identify automation and process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and improve user experience.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders on the assigned payment product matters.
- Provide regular, concise updates on product performance, roadmap progress, key risks, and compliance status.
Reporting & Analytics
- Define KPIs and success metrics for the payments product.
- Use data and reporting tools to monitor performance, identify trends, and uncover opportunities for improvement.
- Turn insights into clear recommendations and action plans.
What You'll Bring
Mindset & Ways of Working
- Product-driven mindset – you think in terms of customer problems, value, and outcomes, not just features.
- Go-getter attitude – you take ownership, move work forward, and are comfortable navigating ambiguity.
- Willingness to adapt and learn – you're curious, open to feedback, and keen to grow in the payments space.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills – you can work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and you present complex topics in a clear way.
Experience & Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Typically 5+ years of product management experience in payments, financial services, or adjacent B2B/B2B2C products.
- Proven track record of developing product strategies, delivering roadmaps, and managing products through their lifecycle.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (e.g., technology, operations, risk, compliance, vendors).
Technical & Domain Skills
- Strong understanding of payment systems, integration patterns, and security considerations.
- Experience with data-driven decision-making, including financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Nice to Have (Assets)
- Experience managing payment products or payment rails.
- Knowledge of Payments Canada rules, ISO 20022, and related payments standards.
- Experience working with financial institutions, credit unions, or payment service providers.
The Environment
PPJV is a fast paced and focused environment where employees and contractors share the mission to deliver efficient, cost effective, modernized payments processing to prairie credit unions.
Interested candidates are asked to submit a resume & cover letter by 4:00 PM on December 8, 2025. We thank all candidates for their interest; however, only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
