Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Environmental Health Safety Specialist role based in Burnaby, BC. The specialist will oversee and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, develop and implement workplace safety programs, conduct regular safety audits, and lead training sessions for employees. Responsibilities will also include identifying and mitigating environmental and safety risks, ensuring the workplace adheres to environmental health standards, and supporting continuous improvement in health and safety practices.

The successful candidate will
own and maintain the existing ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System
. These systems are fully implemented at our manufacturing plant; the candidate will
familiarize themselves with these systems and ensure ongoing compliance, effectiveness, and improvement
.

Our matrix structure integrates EHS and QA functions. The successful candidate will work closely with QA during audits and help maintain the Integrated Management System, leveraging shared processes and data to drive operational excellence and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Health & Safety and Environment Health and Safety (EHS) standards and practices
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of EHS experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse teams
  • Strong understanding of Workplace Safety and Occupational Health principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate risks
  • Proven experience managing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems
  • Experience developing and delivering Safety Training programs
  • Certifications such as NEBOSH, CRSP, or equivalent are an asset

Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Compensation for this role will be based on experience and qualifications. The salary range is $82,000 – $95,000 annually.
