What you'll be doing

As the Senior Consultant, Enterprise Gating – Technology Operational Risk, you will play a pivotal role in the continuous improvement and evolution of operational quality and reliability at CIBC. You will manage individual operational risk (Gating) assessments, contribute to standards development and problem analysis, and adapt assessment processes based on ongoing operations and risk analysis. Data analysis and reporting are also central to this position. You will support the development and continuous improvement of standards, processes, and application/infrastructure release quality.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview

How you'll succeed

  • Quality Review: Review application and infrastructure work packages to ensure they meet CIBC's quality standards and are ready for operational environments (including vendor-managed environments). Manage Gating email requests, schedule reviews, and align them with release milestones and implementation timelines. Support Internal Audit requirements and provide Portfolio and Executive Scorecard reporting. Develop documentation to support Gating processes and operational procedures. Support process development and linkages to other operational processes (incident, change, problem), providing metrics and reporting. Support tool automation, testing, and validation for the Gating Document Repository and integrations with other key processes.
  • Standards Adherence: Ensure applications are operationally complete and can be effectively run and operated. Conduct and report on assigned Operational Risk Reviews weekly, chair Gate Reviews, and ensure Operations are represented in design and approval processes. Create and review Unified Triage submissions to assess Gating requirements for projects and releases.
  • Change Assessment: Review environment changes to minimize impact, identify risks, and assess interactions with existing services. Gather and analyze data; compile and validate ad hoc and scheduled reports for management and executive requests.
  • Operational Support: Collaborate with operations teams to track changes, incidents, problems, and ensure appropriate QA/QC actions are taken. Generate Executive Dashboards and detailed Gating decks (including risk mitigations) within committed timelines for technology executive review. Act as Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for operational risk assessments and provide process training to CIBC groups.
  • Collaboration: Work proactively with Portfolio Leads and service providers through all phases of the application development lifecycle, from design to operational release.
