Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.

This is a Laboratory Technician position funded by the federal government (CBRF program) to establish a new vaccine development and testing center. Dr. Shmulevitz co-leads this program with another professor at the University of Manitoba. Dr. Shmulevitz directly leads the UA initiatives, working closely with 8 UA researchers on this team project.

This position involves research in a virology and immunology laboratory setting.  The candidate will perform a wide range of technical duties and provide support for ongoing research projects. The experiments are a mix of animal in vivo and in vitro molecular assays. Specifically for animal experiments, the candidate will be ordering and maintaining animals, records and conducting animal experiments either independently or alongside other researchers. In addition to animal experiments, the candidate will conduct a number of in vitro molecular experiments such as molecular cloning, virus production, immune assays and alike. Independent decision making and collaboration with lab trainees, animal care staff, the principal investigator and veterinarians will be needed.
