Hiring an early childhood program supervisor

Qualification:

  • Completion of a college program in early childhood education or a bachelor's degree in child development is required.

  • Holds a valid BC ECE (Early Childhood Educator) Certificate is required.

  • One to three years of experience as a Supervisor in childcare, early childhood education, or education is preferred.

Main duties:

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and assistants.

  • Assist the owners with the daily operations, administration, and staff leadership of our early learning centre.

  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children

  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children

  • Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours

  • Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members

  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity

  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents and guardians

Working conditions:

Working hours: 30 hours per week (full-time & permanent position)

Wage: $ $37.00 depending on relevant experience and specialty

Benefits: 4% of vacation pay, 2 weeks paid vacation during the winter break, 5 sick days per year, and extended medical/dental benefits
