One Full-Time Position & One Part-Time Position

We are seeking warm, attentive, and reliable caregivers to provide overnight respite care for a child with complex medical needs. Care is provided in the family home and, at times, in hospital settings. Technical skills can be trained — genuine compassion cannot — so we are looking for individuals who naturally bring the right qualities to this role.

Job Duties:

Overnight care runs from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM (10-hour shifts). Applicants must be able to safely lift 50 lbs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • chest physio
  • suctioning
  • oxygen & BiPAP machine
  • cough assist
  • G-tube feeding
  • medication
  • seizure care and monitoring
  • repositioning, massage, stretching, and muscle relaxation
  • personal care: bathing, oral hygiene, dressing, hair care, diaper change, and skin care

Training will be provided for all medical and equipment-related tasks.

Schedule Options

  • Full-Time (40 hours/week): Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday
  • Part-Time (30 hours/week): Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday

Qualifications:

  • Legal Work Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in Canada and provide a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) upon hiring.
  • Identity & Documentation: Must present original proof of work eligibility (valid work permit, study permit with work authorization, or Canadian citizenship/permanent residency) and government-issued photo ID prior to employment.
  • Criminal Record Check: A clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening (completed within the last 3 months) is required.
  • Availability: Must reliably commit to overnight shifts from 9 PM to 7 AM.

Position Summary

As an Awake Overnight Respite Caregiver, you will play a vital role in supporting the safety, comfort, and well-being of a child with complex medical needs throughout the night. With guidance and training, you will follow an established care routine, administer medication, and provide hands-on personal care. Your presence allows our family meaningful rest and peace of mind and your compassion will make a true difference every shift.
