Adept at recognizing arrhythmias, ischemic changes, and abnormal stress responses while supporting cardiologists in fast-paced clinical environments. Demonstrates excellent communication, calm bedside manner, and strict adherence to clinical protocols, infection control, and emergency response standards. Committed to delivering accurate diagnostic data and exceptional patient care.

Roles & Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Perform cardiac stress tests including Exercise Treadmill Tests (ETT), Stress Echocardiography, and Stress ECG under physician supervision.
  • Prepare patients for testing by reviewing medical history, screening for contraindications, obtaining informed consent, and explaining procedures.
  • Accurately place ECG leads, monitor vital signs, and ensure high-quality ECG tracings throughout the stress test.
  • Recognize and promptly report arrhythmias, Ischemic changes, abnormal vital signs, and other adverse patient responses during testing.
  • Administer stress protocols safely and adjust treadmill/bike parameters based on patient tolerance and physician instructions.
  • Assist physicians/sonographers during imaging-based stress tests (e.g., echo, nuclear).
  • Provide emergency support during cardiac events following ACLS/BLS guidelines.

Technical Duties

  • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot ECG machines, treadmills, blood pressure monitors, and other stress testing equipment.
  • Ensure accurate data entry into EMR systems and generate detailed test reports for cardiologists.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all clinical safety and infection-control standards.
  • Prepare the testing room, ensure equipment readiness, and follow sterile/disinfection protocols.

Administrative Duties

  • Schedule patient appointments and manage stress lab workflow efficiently.
  • Obtain pre-authorization from insurance (if applicable) and verify patient documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed tests and upload results to the EMR for physician interpretation.
  • Participate in quality assurance, equipment audits, and policy updates within the stress lab.

Patient Care & Communication

  • Educate patients on the stress test process, expectations, and after-test care.
  • Provide calm, professional support for anxious patients and ensure patient safety at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with cardiologists, nurses, sonographers, and administrative staff to ensure smooth workflow.

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Follow ACLS/BLS, OHIP/Ontario standards (if in Canada), and hospital/clinic protocols.
  • Adhere to cardiac diagnostic testing guidelines set by CCS, ACC/AHA, and institutional policies.
  • Participate in continuing education, competency assessments, and annual safety training.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract, Casual

Pay: $28.00-$34.00 per hour
