Job Title: Network Test Software Developer / Network Test Developer (2 Roles)

Location: Concord, ON

Length: 1-year contract to start

Rotation: Monday–Friday

Description:

NES Fircroft is supporting our client in Concord, ON, who is seeking two Network Test professionals to join their product development team. Both roles focus on testing and validation of industrial networking products, with one role emphasizing software test automation and the other broader network testing and customer support.

Role 1: Network Test Software Developer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop automated test scripts for switches and routers (Perl, C++, Java, or similar)
  • Perform functional, stress, performance, and interoperability testing
  • Create and execute product and feature test plans
  • Support requirements and specifications for test automation tools
  • Contribute to product requirements as part of a cross-functional team

Key Skills:

  • Strong Layer 2/3 networking knowledge (VLAN, RSTP, OSPF, RIP, SNMP, QoS)
  • Security protocols (IPsec VPN, Firewalls)
  • Linux configuration and software development experience an asset

Role 2: Network Test Developer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform functional, stress, performance, and interoperability testing
  • Develop and execute product and feature test plans
  • Provide Tier 3 customer support and troubleshooting
  • Contribute to test automation tool development
  • Review product requirements; write application notes and documentation

Key Skills:

  • Advanced Layer 2/3 networking (MSTP, BGP, MPLS, VRF, IPv6, QoS)
  • Security technologies (IPsec VPN, TLS, Radius, IDS/IPS)
  • Programming experience (Perl, PHP, C, Java) an asset
  • Linux and software development experience an asset

Qualifications (Both Roles):

  • 5+ years in a product development environment (industrial communications)
  • Degree or diploma in networking, computer science, or engineering
  • Experience configuring routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Strong understanding of OSI model and TCP/IP
  • Excellent English communication skills and ability to work in a team
