The responsibilities of an Animateur Senior include but are not limited to:
- Report to the Chef D'Équipe and participate in weekly mentorship sessions to support skill development and career growth
- Overseeing Moniteurs / Monitrice to ensure the Camp Tournesol curriculum is properly implemented
- Leading activities in the Mastery program with children between the ages of 4-14 years old
- Developing activities to help fill programming (if needed)
- Performing duties of a Moniteur / Monitrice in an emergency
- Modelling appropriate behaviour and creating positive interactions
- Adhere to all Camp Tournesol health and safety and emergency protocols, including WHMIS and hazard checks, and Camp Tournesol policy
- Engaging parents by providing appropriate and professional feedback
- Assisting the Chef d'Équipe with training staff at your location
- Ensuring a smooth pick-up and drop-off process at the start and end of each day
- Effectively communicating when parents seek assistance about camp or their children
- Purchasing extra camp supplies when approved by the Management Team
- Mentoring Counsellors-In-Training (CIT) at your location
- Administrative tasks including completing various camp reports
- Carrying out reasonable duty requests from members of the Management Team
- Attending the mandatory training period for all Animateur Seniors
Note: Candidates applying for any position with Camp Tournesol Espoir Inc. must have a valid certificate in Standard First Aid with CPR-C from a reputable provider of first aid training as recognized by WSIB / WCB / WorkSafe BC, as well as a Police Check in the Vulnerable Sector that was issued no earlier than August 25, 2025.
Successful Candidates Should Possess:- Must be fully proficient in English and French
- Graduated from or currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Education at a post-secondary institution (considered an asset, not a requirement)
- Previous experience working in a leadership capacity is considered an asset, but not required
- Knowledge and understanding of French curriculum programming and related topics
- Inspirational and creative thinking skills
- Customer service-oriented mindset
- Teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to take initiative
- Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to adapt to change
- The ability to anticipate problems and opportunities, and develop effective solutions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to commute to workplace location
- Minimum 18 years of age or older
- This position may be funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons to be eligible.
This is a full-time, temporary contract role that is a great opportunity for people who enjoy working with children.
Hourly Wage$19.60 per hour
