Essence of the Role

The R&D Technician is the hands-on engine that drives prototyping and testing within product development. Working in close partnership with the Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV), Fuel Cell Humidifier (FCH), and Membrane product teams, this role brings ideas to life through precise execution, strong technical intuition, and a sharp eye for detail. Success in this position relies on mastery of testing tools and resources, solid computer skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable results that advance innovation.

Key Responsibilities


• Conduct testing of ERV and FCH products, analyze data and write reports


• Set up and operate test equipment with pneumatic and electronic components


• Conceptual design and 3D modeling using SolidWorks


• Assemble and test prototypes


• Design and build fixtures for testing or manufacturing


• Measure and assess the quality of components or returned prototypes


• Assist senior engineers on project coordination and deliverables


• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and experience:


• Engineering Technologist diploma/degrees


• 0-2 years of relevant experience


• Experience setting up instrumentation and data-logging equipment for measurement and control of temperature, pressure, humidity, and flow (ie. Labview)


• Analytical mindset and problem-solving ability


• Mechanical aptitude/hands-on prototyping and fabrication skills


• Basic computer software skills (Microsoft word/outlook) and strong excel skills are a must, other data processing and analysis software skills are considered a benefit (ie. Python, R)


• 3D modeling & 2D drafting experience (SolidWorks preferred)*


• Excellent oral and written communications skills


• Positive attitude- work and plays well with others in a strong team environment


• Flexible and adaptable mindset


• Other duties as assigned


• Ability to lift 20 lbs

Bonus Qualifications


• GD&T / Drawing detailing experience


• Machining experience


• Experience with compressed air, pneumatics


• Prior experience with Fuel cells, heat exchangers, heat transfer or CFD

Compensation for this position will be based off of the applicants experience. The pay range is $50,000-$63,000 CAD
