We are looking for a
*Victim Services Caseworker

team This position works directly with the RCMP, providing support services, practical assistance, information, and referrals to clients who have been victims of crime. The individual must have strong interpersonal skills, be experienced in crisis intervention and trauma informed practice and be available for on call crisis support.

Description Of Position
*Reporting to:*
Mental Health and Social Services Team Leader

General Responsibilities

  • Provide support for people in the Oceanside who have been victims of crime and tragic loss.
  • Provide services that are safe, supportive, and confidential for victims while they manage the impact of their experience.

Program-specific Responsibilities

  • Provide direct emotional and practical support to clients as well as safety planning.
  • Provide support for court and various victim resource applications.
  • Connect victims with resources in the community.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Oceanside RCMP and Oceanside Community
  • Be available for 24-hour crisis call-outs on a weekly rotating basis.

Physical Demands Of Job

  • Lifting/Pulling/Pushing - 25%, Walking/Moving Around - 50%, Sitting - 75%, Time Spent Outside - 50%

Cognitive Demands Of Job

  • Independent Work - 75%, Task Memorization - 50%, Changing Priorities/Deadlines - 75%, Writing/Reading - 75%

Qualifications

  • Mandatory: Diploma in Social Services, Criminology or related field / Preferred: Degree in the Social Services Area (Social Work, Criminology or Psychology).
  • Preferred: 3 years' experience providing Police Based Victim Services or in a related field.
  • Ability to obtain a clear criminal record check.
