LIFE ENRICHMENT AIDE

Primacare Living Solutions is a privately held Canadian Long-Term Care Operator based in Toronto, Ontario and is a fully accredited member of both CARF and the OLTCA. Additionally, in 2018, Primacare undertook a ground-breaking research project called The Albert Project, to investigate an innovative approach to dementia care that utilizes virtual reality (VR) as a therapeutic intervention for residents with moderate to severe dementia. The pilot phase was completed in 2019 with findings that showed it was clinically significant to their residents.

Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Life Enrichment Manager, the Life Enrichment Aide participates in the implementation of life enrichment programs to meet the various physical, psychological, social, cultural, recreational, and spiritual needs of residents.

Key Responsibilities and Skills:

  • Assist in the planning, organization, and implementation of meaningful programs for the residents, in collaboration with the Life Enrichment Department.
  • Assist with the maintenance of appropriate department records including assessments, evaluations of planned programs detailing individual participation, charting.
  • Maintains effective communication and good human relations with residents, families, volunteers, and staff of other departments, keep them informed of current and upcoming events.
  • Participates in team meetings to plan programs with residents' interests in mind.
  • Assisting with assessments of individual residents' activity levels
  • Preparing, carrying out and evaluating daily activities
  • Porting residents to meals, assisting and supporting residents during mealtime.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Manager.
  • Contribute to a home environment for residents that ensures the values of Primacare Living Solutions are maintained and upheld.

Job Requirements:

  • Holds a diploma / degree or is enrolled in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, Social Service Work, Gerontology or other related fields from a community college or university.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong time management and organization skills.
  • Has experience and knowledge related to one on one and group programing, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Able to provide meaningful engagement for residents through all domains of wellness with the ability to apply this to a one-to-one setting.
  • A Vulnerable Sector Screening check completed in the last 6 months.
  • The ability to read, write, and communicate orally in English.
  • Experience in a Long-Term Care Home or with seniors preferred Proof of full immunization (2 doses ) against COVID-19, in accordance with the Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care's Long-term care home COVID-19 immunization policy.
