Sun Certified Builders Cooperative (SCBC) is looking for a Apprenticing Carpenter (Level 1 or 2)

Our business is high performance new builds and renovations in both residential and small

commercial buildings using Passive House methods and principles. We use advanced framing

methods and a Larsen truss wall system to prefabricate and install high performance building

components. We use the Passive House Planning Package and DesignPH for energy modelling

to design and build some of Manitoba's most energy efficient and resilient buildings with

ultra-low carbon footprints. Our mission is to curb climate change by constructing highly efficient

buildings that have a net neutral or even negative lifetime carbon footprint.

We focus on high quality craftship and attention to detail. Demand for high performance

buildings is growing and we need new members to increase our capacity.

Successful applicants must be able to get to job sites within the city. We also work in

surrounding communities so the ability to work out of town is an asset, as well as a class 5

drivers license.

Current Wage Scale and Duties Associated

$23.13/hr – Skilled Construction Labourer

● Personal Protective Equipment required

● Must be able to get to any jobsite independently

● Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects continuously

● Valid Driver's License required

● Must be willing to obtain safety training and first aid training

● Basic tools required (Cell phone)

$25.31/hr – Level One

● Personal Protective Equipment required

● Basic tools required (Cell phone, tool belt with: hammer, nail puller, tape measure,

pencil, square, chalk line, impact driver)

● Must be able to get to any jobsite independently

● Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects continuously

● Must have basic competency in the use of hand and power tools

● Must exhibit competencies conforming with Level one of the Provincial Carpentry

Curriculum

● Must have basic knowledge of the Manitoba Building Code

● Must be willing to obtain safety training and first aid training

● Must be able to work independently

$29.49/hr Level Two

● Personal Protective Equipment required

● Basic tools required (Cell phone, tool belt with: hammer, nail puller, tape measure,

pencil, square, chalk line, impact driver)

● Must be able to get to any jobsite independently

● Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects continuously

● Must have intermediate competency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and shop

tools

● Must exhibit competencies conforming with Level two of the Provincial Carpentry

Curriculum

● Must read and interpret construction drawings and details

● Must have intermediate knowledge of the Manitoba Building Code

● Must be able to work independently

● Must be willing to obtain safety training and first aid training

● Must be able to calculate and order material and work to project timelines

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.13-$29.49 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Work Location: In person
