Role Description:
Matchline Engineering is looking for an Intermediate to Senior Mechanical/Piping Designer to join our Edmonton Industrial Engineering group. This is a contract hourly remote position with a preference for candidates within Edmonton and the surrounding area. The individual will be part of a team supporting our oil, gas, mining and manufacturing clients and the position may require occasional visits to sites. The position will be Full Time, Remote.
Requirements and Responsibilities:
- 5+ Years Mechanical/Piping Design experience working on Industrial Projects
- Develop and prepare Industrial design drawings in collaboration with Engineers including piping isometrics, general arrangements, mechanical plans, sections and detail drawings to defined CAD standards.
- Develop conceptual and detailed 3D project models
- Conduct site visits to gather data, take measurements and photos to assist with designs.
- Search client databases and identify relevant project and reference drawings
Skills and Experience:
- Strong knowledge of 2D and 3D drafting software including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks Manage, Recap, and Bluebeam.
- Experience with Microstation, Revit, CADWorx, AutoPLANT and Hexagon Smartplant would be considered an asset but not a requirement.
- Experience with brownfield project design, clash detection and custom detailing such transition pieces and spool drawings is required.
- Ability to learn and adapt to a variety of project design types including piping, tubing and HVAC in a small team environment.
- Experience with Industrial HVAC is considered an asset.
- Able to perform basic visual inspections and measurements in the field as directed by a senior engineer.
- Able to review shop drawings and prepare RFI responses in collaboration with a senior engineer.
- Able to assist with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
- Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members in a multi-disciplined environment.
- Ability to interpret engineering and design documentation and take general scopes and instructions from thought to conception with minimal supervision.
- Familiar with ASME, SMACNA, CSA codes & standards commonly employed for industrial projects.
- Ability to work independently and remotely using MS Teams, Outlook, SharePoint and other digital collaboration tools.
