Mercor is launching the Prompt Academy, a paid course designed to bridge the gap between human expertise and Artificial Intelligence. We believe that to build the next generation of AI, we need to understand its current limitations—and we need human experts to find them.

We are looking for professionals with unique domain knowledge to participate in a paid, 4-hour instructional course. You will be paid to learn the science of "Prompt Engineering" and "Adversarial Testing." Upon successful completion, you will become eligible for our high-paying expert projects (ranging from $50–$100/hr).

What You Will Learn This is a paid upskilling opportunity. You will complete a two-part interactive course designed to turn your subject-matter expertise into high-quality AI data:

  • Part 1: The Architecture of a Strong Prompt: Learn the "Context, Clarity, Constraint" framework to write prompts that leave zero room for ambiguity.

  • Part 2: Inducing Model Failure: Learn how to craft complex, reasoning-heavy tasks that "stump" frontier models (like ChatGPT and Gemini). You will learn to distinguish between simple retrieval errors and deep reasoning failures.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for deep domain experts in any field. Whether you are a historian, an accountant, a master electrician, a nurse, a creative writer, or a physicist—if you possess unique knowledge that is difficult to find on the open web, we want you.

  • Deep Expertise: You understand the nuance of your field. You know the difference between a "textbook answer" and a "real-world expert answer."

  • Critical Thinking: You can identify logic gaps and subtle hallucinations in AI-generated text.

  • Curiosity: You are interested in testing the boundaries of what current AI models can and cannot do.

Project Details & Compensation

  • Stipend: $50-$150 upon successful completion of the Academy assessments.

  • Time Commitment: Approximately 4 hours (self-paced).

  • Future Opportunities: Successful Fellows will be prioritized for our ongoing Expert Contributor roles (long-term projects benchmarking AI capabilities).

  • Requirements: No paid AI subscriptions are required. You will be able to complete the tasks using publicly available tools.
