Role Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Talent Acquisition, the Talent Acquisition Specialist plays a key role in supporting recruitment and hiring initiatives across the credit union. This role supports a seamless experience for both candidates and hiring managers by coordinating job postings, managing interview scheduling, maintaining the applicant tracking system, and contributing to diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), and bilingual hiring efforts. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will work closely with internal and external partners to attract talent that supports Assiniboine Credit Union/ Caisse Assiniboine (ACU)'s commitment to rural and agricultural communities, francophone services, values-based banking and ACU's triple bottom line accountability to people, planet, and prosperity.

Key Accountabilities

  • Coordinate the end-to-end recruitment process—from job requisition to onboarding support—including scheduling interviews and maintaining timely, accurate data in the applicant tracking system (ATS)
  • Post job openings across internal and external platforms, with a focus on bilingual and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) recruitment channels."
  • Support recruitment activities, including career fairs, community events, and virtual hiring campaigns
  • Assist in sourcing candidates, especially for hard-to-fill or rural roles
  • Coordinate background checks, references, and employment verifications
  • Lead all administration associated with employee movement to ensure it is completed accurately and on time.
  • Promote the credit union's employer brand across multiple channels, including social media and community outreach
  • Maintain recruitment metrics and generate reports for analysis
  • Ensure compliance with all internal hiring policies and applicable legislation
  • Support French-language recruitment initiatives in designated regions
  • Foster positive relationships with external partners, such as schools, community organizations, and recruitment agencies
  • Maintain professional confidentiality and privacy at all times.
  • Keep current on employment law, human resources best practices, business trends and potential problems, issues and changes in the financial services industry, and other external forces.
  • Responsible for compliance and risk management, through the execution of internal policies and procedures, maintain ongoing compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements at all times.
  • Ensure that all Talent Acquisition programs, policies and process are implemented in a manner that supports ACU's commitment to rural and agricultural communities, francophone services, values-based banking, respectful workplace and diversity, equity and inclusion.

Qualifications

Education and experience

The competencies for the position would typically be acquired through the achievement of post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field, plus two years of experience in HR or recruitment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The Chartered Professionals in Human Resources designation (CPHR) and financial sector experience would be considered an asset.

Key Occupational Skills

  • Fluent in French and English is preferred, especially for regions with language requirements
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Recruitment and HRIS Software
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in hiring practices
  • Knowledge of employment legislation is an asset
