Job Purpose
The primary role of this individual is to oversee all activities directly relating to the activities of all packaging staff and equipment on their line to ensure a safe, efficient, and organized packaging operation.
Duties And Responsibilities
The associate's primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:
- Direct and coach team to ensure all staff are adhering to the policies and procedures set forth by the company.
- Reach scrap & efficiency goals as relating to your assigned line.
- Ensure all "Work-In-Process" is used up in an efficient manner as per First in First Out rules.
- Prepare and complete all required paperwork including production packaging records, weight checks and metal detection records.
- Ensure all checks are completed on time.
- Ensure proper packaging is used.
- Update date code and ensure it is accurate.
- Coordinate changeovers and cleans.
- Help keep line clean and at end of shift, ensure bins, cardboard garbage's are emptied for next shift.
- Manage packers on the line to assign work during spare time, monitor break times and attendance.
- Ensure timely rotations of packers as per the company standard.
- Use just foods software to report pallets and print LPs.
- Responsible to ensure all packers are trained.
- Responsible to ensure packers are following safety procedures and company policies.
- Responsible to communicate issues on the line to appropriate individuals including Service Operator, QA, Line Supervisor, oven operator and Mechanic.
- Assist and complete cleaning procedures such as allergens.
- Adjust and direct crew when it comes to equipment downtime and break downs.
- Always organize and maintain the line.
- To assist with moving pallets as required on the production lines.
- Require working "Independently" as well as in a "Team" environment.
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
- Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience working in a product packaging environment preferred.
- Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be a team player, have good organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision, and possess a safety-first approach to work.
- Detail oriented
- Basic math skills
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including overtime and have dependable attendance.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Working conditions
- Work indoors.
- May be exposed to hot temperatures from ovens.
- May work close to others, usually within a few feet.
- Compliant with ventilation, cleanliness, space, lighting, and temperature.
Physical Requirements
- Standing involved.
- May repeat the same movement.
- Often wear safety equipment such as gloves, hair nets, steel toed safety shoes/boots and beard nets.
- Ability to bend or twist their body.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
