What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Director, Marketing Data Strategy, the Sr. Manager Data Engineer will lead the creation and maintenance of Data Products that support Marketing's digital and direct modernization. You will design, develop and maintain a complex data pipelines and queries to create data assets that enable a large group of marketing data users in their day-to-day operations. You will collaborate closely with teams across Marketing, consultants, and line-of-business data experts to deliver the roadmap of variety of data products surround the CIBC clients, their digital behavior, journeys, transactions, etc. You will also work with data strategy lead and data product owners to enable the migration of existing use-case and data processes to cloud.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you'll succeed
- Business and Systems Expertise - Be subject matter expert in cloud data engineering best practices, standards and techniques. Provide thought leadership in cloud ETL framework and data process flow design.
- Business Acumen - Strong business acumen and you can connect the dots between multiple data deliverables, dependencies and desired outcome. You are able to simplify and able to translate a data product to a technical path to delivery.
- Troubleshooting and Analytical Thinking - Play a proactive role in seeking for resolutions to issues and roadblocks along the program lifecycle. Ability to identify and ensure right stakeholders are engaged in conversations to resolve outstanding items. You ask the right questions to get the answers you are looking for.
- Accountability - Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and deliver multiple concurrent programs
Who you are
- You demonstrate experience in: 5 years+ experience in developing enterprise level data pipelines and ETL process on cloud platform. Working knowledge of cloud analytics and computing through 3+ years' experience in Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Power BI, Spark. Strong database and SQL knowledge, working knowledge of PySpark, Python, , SparkR, R, SAS would be an asset.
