Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to individuals in various settings, including home care, assisted living, and group homes. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for our clients by assisting them with daily activities and ensuring their comfort and safety.

Duties

As a Personal Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Providing patient care and monitoring vital signs to ensure the well-being of clients.
  • Cooking nutritious meals and assisting with meal preparation to meet dietary needs.
  • Performing light cleaning duties to maintain a safe and hygienic living environment.
  • Supporting clients with mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary.
  • Observing and documenting changes in clients' conditions or behaviors for effective patient monitoring.
  • Administering medications as per care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Engaging clients in meaningful activities to promote mental stimulation and social interaction, particularly for those with Alzheimer's or dementia care needs.
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalized care plans.
  • Providing companionship and emotional support to enhance the overall quality of life for clients.

Experience

Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in home health, hospice care, or long-term care settings is preferred.
  • Familiarity with working with individuals who have developmental disabilities, autism, or memory-related conditions is highly desirable.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR is advantageous.
  • Experience in caregiving roles that involve heavy lifting and direct support is essential.
  • Knowledge of patient observation techniques and vital sign monitoring is beneficial.
