We are devoted to making "Safety… Our Way of Life".Summary:Under the direction of the Project Superintendent, the Project General Foreman is accountable for providing services to our clients that meet or exceed client expectations. The incumbent is to conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of the Fort McKay Group of Companies LP. This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/ pre- access testing.Key Focus:Working with the Crew Team Leads, indirectly manage, support, inspire, and provide direction to a large group of employees to meet the requirements of the contract, the client and FMGOC. Accountable for safety, quality, schedule and productivity performance to ensure client compliance.Complete Safe Work Observation and Planned Work Inspection per set.Provide input and direction into bid strategy with the aid of the Project Superintendent.Develop, maintain and enhance relationships with clients in field representative and presence.Attend Client and Company Meetings to address any concerns.Perform Supervisory problem-solving duties relating to the assigned project.Provide consultation and assist in risk assessment, hazard analysis and job planning.Coordinate with shift safety personnel to ensure all HSE initiatives are being followed, met and exceeded.Assist in any incident or injury investigation and ensure it is dealt with in a timely manner.Monitor and assist senior management in the career development of the hourly employees.Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal/written) and supervisory skillsAbility to minimize and resolve conflicts in a timely, diplomatic, respectful fashion.Perform any related and/or additional duties as assignedKnowledge and Skill Requirements:Completion of a High School Diploma, or a GED equivalent is required.  Retention of a valid class five (5) driver's license is required3 year clean Drivers Abstract is requiredAt least 10+ years of experience in Mining Operations in a supervisory/leadership role is required.CSTS and OSSA or BSO or CSO is requiredPractical understanding of and well-developed skills in open pit mine operations.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including good oral, written communication, and listening skillsMust have strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skillsStrong commitment to safety, including personal safety, safety of co-workers, and the protection of FMGOC and client's property in accordance and compliance with company practices, industry standards, and government regulations. Must be decisive and work well under pressure; particularly when faced with an unexpected occurrence or delay.Focus oriented, with a strong attention to detail.Good time management skills.  Ability to speak, write and read English is requiredThis is a full time position located north of Fort McMurray, AB, on the MLX Site (Syncrude Site)Work schedule: 14 days on, 7 days off; days and nights. 13 hour shift Camp is available to non local employees. What we offer:Highly competitive salaries100% Company paid group benefits including Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment, Dependent Life, Critical Illness, LTD, Health, Dental, Employee and Family Assistance Program, and a Health Spending Account.Safe working conditionsThe opportunity to make a difference: Rewarding and engaging atmosphere where you will see your contribution at work and be encouraged to grow in your careerWork-life balance: We know our people have places to go, people to see and good times to have and we support thatFort McKay Group of Companies is a growing oilfield and Construction Company which is 100% owned and controlled by the Fort McKay First Nation in Alberta, Canada.
