DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Manager/Chief Operating Engineer of CUP, Engineering and Infrastructure and in regulatory compliance with the Technical Standards & Safety Act 2000 and Ontario Regulation 219/01, the Second Class Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance and control of TSSA registered First Class Power Plant which includes the Boilers/Steam Generators, 1.6 MW Power Plant, Heat Recovery Systems and Auxiliary Equipment as well as the supervision of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment through the Building Automation System.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Ontario Second Class Operating Engineer Certificate from TSSA.

Consideration will be given to current holder of Third-Class Operating Engineer that are working towards obtaining Second Class and close for getting Second Class

Proven experience as a Stationary/Operating Engineer;

Strong knowledge of the operation, maintenance and control of Boilers, steam generators, Power Plant and auxiliary equipment. Operation, maintenance and control of Heating Ventilation, and Air conditioning (HVAC) systems;

Experience with Steam Distribution systems and Condensate collection system, water treatment and water test, Air Compressor, Air Dryers, Air receiver.

Perform PM maintenance and minor repairs in Power House. Accurately record reading of all major utility meters.

Experience with a Building Automation System;

Proven ability to work independently, prioritize, deal with immediate response situations and constant interruptions, and make responsible decisions within the limits defined by the technical standards or job practices;

Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

Familiarity with Microsoft Office software;

Physically able to work in varying environments, for example where temperatures may be cold or hot while performing the essential duties of operation and maintenance;

Must have a satisfactory performance record;
