The Opportunity:

We are currently hiring a full-time, permanent Lumber Yard Associate. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting daily yard operations, including the safe handling, organization, and movement of lumber and building materials. This role ensures customers receive prompt, accurate service and that inventory is maintained in a clean and orderly manner.

Duties Include:

• Ensure customers are greeted promptly as they enter the lumber yard.
• Review invoice and assist customers in locating and loading their merchandise.
• Be familiar with all items in stock, including their location in the lumber yard.
• Move materials weighing up to 100 pounds to or from the yard, placing them on or removing them from trucks, pallets, etc. as required.
• Load and unload materials, taking all necessary safety precautions when handling freight, tools and equipment.
• Keep the yard, cut shop, receiving bay, etc. in a clean and presentable appearance. Remove garbage and debris as needed throughout the day.
• Safely operate yard equipment and tools, including forklift, pallet jack, lumber cart, banding machine, radial arm saw, etc. as required.

What We're Looking For:

• Prior lumber yard or physical labour experience required. Prior delivery experience an asset.
• Valid Ontario 'G' class driver's license with a clean driving record required.
• Forklift certification an asset.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Must be able and willing to work in all types of weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift/move materials weighing up to 100 lb.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Must read and comprehend written and printed materials, as well as information presented in numerical form.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work co-operatively in a team atmosphere.
• Excellent decision-making ability and problem-solving skills.
• Please note: Reliable transportation is essential as Chemong Home Hardware Building Centre is not on a bus route.
