Overview
RFL Wealth is Canada's leading financial planning firm for medical professionals. We're hiring a detail-oriented, analytical Financial Planner to support our client-facing Financial Planners by building customized, tax-efficient Financial Life Plans for our clients.
This role is essential to scaling our planning team efficiently. The ideal candidate has deep familiarity with life insurance products, investment planning, strong financial planning acumen, and a systems-oriented mindset. You'll work behind the scenes to deliver well-researched, accurate, and customized plans that meet the highest internal standards.
Key Responsibilities
Plan Creation & Analysis
- Review meeting notes completed by Financial Planners to get a full overview of the client and their needs. Provide the Financial Planner with an update on any additional information or documents required to complete the client's financial plan.
- Review all tax and insurance documents and summarize key findings for the Financial Planner.
- Build draft plans for review and approval by the Director of Financial Planning.
- Implement plans using NaviPlan financial planning software.
- Complete full Financial Life Plans using NaviPlan and RFL planning templates.
- Integrate tax, investment, and insurance strategies into cohesive, personalized recommendations.
- Tailor plans specifically for ITPs (Internationally Trained Physicians), including considerations around incorporation and cash flow.
- Write Financial Life Plans with clear recommendations that address each client's stated goals.
Insurance Support
- Create and compare multiple insurance illustrations per case across all major carriers for financial planning, living benefit, and risk management purposes.
- Ensure all insurance proposals align with the client's risk tolerance, liquidity needs, and tax planning strategy.
Opportunity Tracking & CRM Maintenance
- Enter and track all investment and insurance-related opportunities in the CRM.
- Review all planning opportunities when preparing Financial Life Plans.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Minimum 3 years of experience in financial planning support role.
- Strong understanding of Canadian investments, insurance products, and financial planning principles.
- Excellent written communication skills with a sharp attention to detail.
Skills
Plan Creation & Analysis
- Extensive experience using NaviPlan
- Able to review tax returns and extract key planning data.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage evolving client information.
- Proactive in documenting and tracking all changes.
- Comfortable writing client-facing plans in a way that's easy to understand and implement.
Insurance Illustration Support
- Proficient in reviewing insurance policies and illustrations.
- Able to navigate various insurance carrier portals to retrieve product and policy information.
MUST-HAVE Tech Skills
- Proficient with Windows laptops and able to troubleshoot basic technical issues.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word:
- Document formatting
- Troubleshooting layout and formatting issues
- Using online resources to learn and implement new formatting features
- Able to troubleshoot and self-resolve issues related to Microsoft Office, insurance portals, and other commonly used tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel:
- Understanding of formulas, especially financial functions
- Formatting and layout customization
- Proficient in Adobe Acrobat (PDF handling and editing)
This is a mission-critical role that enables our client-facing Financial Planners to focus on what they do best — client conversations and strategic guidance — while you power the plan engine behind the scenes.

Hours of work
:
- Standard workweek of
40 hours. - Overtime, where applicable, will be compensated in accordance with the Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA).
· This role is an incremental addition to the existing team, with high ownership and visibility, created to support the company's growth objectives.
