Position Summary

The Magnorum Management Group is seeking an experienced Heavy Construction Safety Officer to be based out of our office in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, with regular travel to job sites in and around Saskatoon as well as Northern Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will work directly under the Manager of Safety and play a key role in supporting and enforcing the company's health and safety program across multiple construction projects, ensuring compliance with legislation and promoting a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a visible safety presence on active heavy construction job sites
  • Conduct site inspections, and ensure implementation of corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety regulations
  • Deliver safety orientations for new hires, toolbox talks, emergency response drills and other training sessions
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare reports and recommendations
  • Assist with development, implementation, and maintenance of safety policies and safe work procedures
  • Conduct annual COR audits and implement COR Action Plans
  • Organize and participate in quarterly OHC Meetings
  • Work directly with the Manager of Safety to continuously improve safety performance and implement company safety programs and initiatives.
  • Travel regularly to job sites in Northern Saskatchewan and the Saskatoon area.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience within heavy construction or industrial environments, ideally with safety management or responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge of Saskatchewan OHS legislation and industry best practices
  • Experience working on civil, earthworks, road building, utilities, or similar heavy construction projects
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and ability to travel as required
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with the Manager of Safety

Assets (Considered an Asset)

  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • NCSO safety designation (or working toward certification)
  • Experience with safety compliance platforms such as ISNet and Avetta
  • COR Auditor, PME Evaluator, Principles of Health and Safety Management, Ground Disturbance, Fall Protection, Flag person TTT, WHMIS TTT, or other relevant safety training
  • Understanding of injury reporting to WCB, and implementing Return to Work
  • Experience working in remote or northern job site environments
