Senior Financial Analyst

Responsibilities:
- Perform month-end close procedures and prepare month-end reconciliations in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual audits, ensuring that all required financial data is accurate and available.
- Review and provide guidance to others within the accounting department, identifying areas for improvement and providing recommendations for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure timely completion of accounting tasks while adhering to company policies, procedures, and business strategies.
- Create and maintain all financial reports in compliance with appropriate accounting frameworks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Review monthly bank account reconciliations and work with the team to resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare internal review documents and provide management with key financial insights.
- Reconcile General Ledger (GL) balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and deliver accurate and timely management reports as required.
- Assist senior management with special projects, providing financial analysis and reporting support as needed.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation is required.
- Minimum of 5 years using accounting principles and Canadian public sector accounting standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial or accounting role with a strong background in full-cycle accounting.
- Excellent understanding of financial reporting frameworks and principles, including IFRS, GAAP, or other relevant standards.
- Experience with public sector accounting.
- Experience in the Government of Alberta or an equivalent environment is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with the Government of Alberta financial system (1GX) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, providing clear guidance to others and driving process improvements.
- Strong proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP).
- Experience with financial analysis, dashboards, and internal/external reporting.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
