Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Harvest Systems Full time $65,000 - $100,000 per year

About Harvest Systems

Harvest Systems is revolutionizing energy efficiency in commercial kitchens by capturing and repurposing waste heat from cooking appliances to produce carbon-free hot water and heating. Our Harvest Platform acts as a drop-in replacement for traditional water heaters, reducing operating costs, emissions, and downtime for restaurants, hotels, and institutions.

We are a Hamilton-based cleantech company built on over a decade of McMaster University research and industry collaboration with Pizza Pizza, Enbridge Gas, and Recipe Unlimited. Our team is growing fast, and we're looking for motivated trades professionals who want to make an immediate impact in the clean energy transition.

Job Overview

As a HVAC Technician, you will play a hands-on role in the assembly, installation, and commissioning of the Harvest Platform, a fuel-less, carbon-free water heating and heat recovery system designed for commercial kitchens. This position is ideal for a skilled HVAC technician with plumbing experience who thrives on-site, ensuring quality installations and operational excellence.

Working directly with our Operations and Product Development teams, you will assemble system components, complete plumbing and system assemblies, and support pilot and commercial deployments in restaurant environments. Your work will help transform waste heat into usable energy, reducing operating costs and emissions for our customers.

This position reports to the Operations Lead and will work closely with the COO and technical engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to provide installation feedback and recommend design improvements

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of codes and standards (ANSI Z83.11/CSA 1.8, CSA B149.1, O.Reg. 215/01, CSA C22.1, and NPC)
  • Ensure all installations meet regulatory and manufacturer requirements

Customer Interaction & Reporting

  • Represent Harvest Systems professionally at customer sites and maintain positive relationships with franchise and contractor partners
  • Document installation data, commissioning results, and site conditions for internal tracking
  • Provide technical feedback to enhance installation manuals, playbooks, and training materials

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Building Technology, HVAC Technology, or related technical discipline
  • Minimum 3–5 years of field experience in HVAC, plumbing, gas fitting, or mechanical systems installation
  • Demonstrated proficiency in soldering, brazing, and pipefitting (copper and stainless steel)
