Belvika Trade & Packaging Ltd. is a leading one-stop contract packaging company, specializing in precision packing of dry foods, chocolate and confectionary products from multiple facilities totaling more than 500,000 ft2. Belvika has grown to be one of the largest co-packers of chocolate, confectionary and snack products in Canada. Belvika uses its extensive experience in managing both manual processes and automated equipment to handle primary and secondary packaging of products for some of the world's best-known confectionary brands.

Belvika is currently seeking a Senior Demand and Supply Planner to analyze and plan customer scheduling requirements based on customer forecast demand. This hands-on position will be responsible for the day-to-day planning of materials required to execute customer demand plans. The Senior Demand and Supply Planner will be located in the Export facility and will be initially responsible for the day to day needs of a select group of customers. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong mix of customer service experience in the consumer-packaged goods area, an ability to work with various computer programs (Microsoft Office, ERP) and a desire to take on new challenges in a fast paced and exciting customer focused environment.

The successful candidate will:

  • Collaborate with customer, sales, and product development teams to gather information and insights that can improve forecast accuracy;
  • Determine optimal inventory levels based on demand forecasts, lead times, and service level agreements;
  • Monitor inventory levels regularly and initiate replenishment orders as needed to prevent stockouts or excess inventory;
  • Implement inventory optimization strategies to minimize carrying costs while maximizing product availability;
  • Coordinate with suppliers and customers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials or finished goods according to production schedules and demand forecasts;
  • Identify potential supply chain disruptions and develop contingency plans to mitigate risks and minimize impact on operations;
  • Evaluate supplier performance, terms, and agreements to optimize supply chain efficiency and cost-effectiveness;
  • Collaborate with production teams to develop production schedules that align with demand forecasts and inventory targets;
  • Optimize production capacity utilization and minimize production lead times while balancing cost considerations and quality standards;
  • Work closely with various departments such as sales, finance, and logistics to align demand and supply plans with overall business objectives;
  • Participate in regular meetings or cross-functional teams to address issues, implement process improvements, and drive continuous optimization of demand and supply planning processes;
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as forecast accuracy, inventory turnover, and service levels to evaluate the effectiveness of demand and supply planning activities;
  • Analyze data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement and drive initiatives to enhance efficiency and responsiveness within the supply chain;
  • Mentor junior planners, providing training, coaching, and professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and capabilities;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, strategic sourcing, and supplier development initiatives;
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement within the organization, driving innovation and implementing process enhancements to stay ahead of evolving market dynamics and customer needs;
  • Prepare and present executive-level reports, dashboards, and presentations on demand forecasting, inventory performance, and supply chain metrics to senior leadership and stakeholders;
  • Serve as a key liaison between demand and supply planning teams and other departments, facilitating cross-functional collaboration and alignment on strategic initiatives;
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives aimed at driving business growth, improving operational efficiency, or enhancing customer satisfaction;
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, ensuring successful implementation and measurable results;
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in demand planning, supply chain management, and logistics;
  • Share insights and thought leadership with internal teams and external stakeholders through presentations, publications, or participation in industry forums and events;
  • Lead or participate in projects aimed at improving systems, processes, or cross-functional collaboration within the organization;
  • Follow all Company health and safety policies and procedures and work in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act;
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education/Work experience requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in customer service, planning, or Demand and Supply roles preferably in a CPG environment;
  • Procurement experience would be an asset
  • Previous background in scheduling, forecasting and planning an asset;
  • College equivalent or higher;
  • Knowledge of distribution, inventory and supply chain practices.

Key technical & behavioural competencies:

  • Previous experience with SAP or other ERP software systems considered an asset;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel;
  • Strong analytical and mathematical abilities;
  • Customer focused with strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, short lead-times and adjust priorities in a professional manner;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Detail and results oriented;
  • Collaborative with all internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
