Weld Automation Operator

Foremost has an immediate opening for a Weld Automation Operator in our Stettler facility. Primarily responsible for overseeing operation of the Weld Automation Cell (as workload dictates), and general welding as required. Duties include but are not limited to ; material handling and production monitoring of automated weld parts, inspection and finishing work, manual production welding, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, supporting Weld Automation Program initiatives, other duties as assigned. This position will work with the Lead Hands, Quality Staff and Foremen to ensure continuous improvements using various semi-automatic and fully automatic welding processes, and in accordance with all regulatory and safety requirements and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
- Operate/oversee automatic welding station including loading, production monitoring and troubleshooting, unloading, quality inspection, finish welding and touch up of automated parts.
- Assist in the development of additional weld automation programs and support Weld Automation Lead as required.
- Perform manual production welding.
- Perform routine housekeeping, maintenance, and inspection activities on facility and equipment in accordance with procedure.
- Help to Maintain/monitor replacement part and consumable part inventory for automation cell.
- Assist in training, directing & supervision of junior employees and apprentices, inspecting and certifying their work.
- Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance, and industry best practice, and participate in Continuous Improvement programs and initiatives.
- Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
- Ensure compliance with Industry, Legislative, and corporate Safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties within the welding department as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Registered Welding Apprentice, Journeyman, or Interprovincial Red Seal
- Prior industry safety training is an asset but willing to train as required.
- Highly flexible and innovative with solid interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a diverse, fast-paced environment.
- Technologically Inclined (knowledge of Computer Coding and 3D Design Software is an asset but not required).
