We are accepting applications for the following permanent full-time (1.0 FTE) position at Howick Central Public School, in Gorrie, Ontario.

Responsibilities:

The Basic Custodian duties may include:

Building Maintenance

• change lights
• shovel snow
• operate snow blower
• clean and inspect roof
• operate grass cutting equipment
• perform minor repairs
• conduct health and safety checks
• service roof top unit

Building Cleaning

• operate and maintain all equipment
• perform all minor and major cleaning

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should possess:

• the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding;
• mechanical aptitude with experience in 1 or more of the trade disciplines e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry;
• exemplary interpersonal, professional and organizational skills;
• the ability to use a computer;
• experience in handling machinery i.e., buffing machine, lawn mowers, snowblowers;
• knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies; and,
• satisfactory attendance will be a consideration when awarding this position.

Compensation Package Details:

Rate of pay: $ $26.59 per hourin accordance with the Basic Custodial grid, as outlined in the UNIFOR Collective Agreement.

Start Date: Immediately

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, with a minimum ½ lunch break for a total of 8.5 hours per day, 12 months per year, shift work may be involved.
