Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (RN)
Full-Time | Day Shift | On-site – Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
We are supporting a leading acute care hospital in Ottawa in their search for an experienced
NSWOC (RN)
to join their clinical team. This senior specialist role focuses on providing advanced wound and ostomy care, interdisciplinary support, and clinical education within an inpatient hospital environment.
Position Overview:
As the Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse, you will provide expert assessment, care planning, intervention, and follow-up for patients with complex wounds and ostomies. You will act as a clinical resource and educator for patients, caregivers, and nursing teams, while supporting program development and best practices in wound and ostomy management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver specialized clinical care for patients requiring wound, ostomy, and continence therapy.
• Perform patient assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Provide education and counseling to patients, families, and staff.
• Serve as a clinical leader and resource within the interprofessional care team.
• Support development and implementation of evidence-based care protocols.
• Participate in quality improvement and continuing education initiatives.
Required Qualifications
• Registered Nurse (RN) with Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN/BSN/BN).
• Minimum 5 years clinical experience in an acute care setting.
• 3+ years direct experience in wound management.
• Completion of a recognized Wound, Ostomy & Continence program (NSWOC, WOCN, Enterostomal Therapy, etc.).
• Current CNA certification in Wound, Ostomy & Continence.
• Bilingual (English & French) – intermediate written and verbal proficiency required.
• Strong communication, education, problem-solving, and clinical leadership skills.
Preferred Assets
• Master's degree in Nursing or related field.
• Experience with program development, training, or clinical education.
