Our client has an immediate opening for Controls Engineer to join their team in Vancouver.

This role is ideal for a technically skilled individual especially with experience in healthcare and datacenter verticals for HVAC controls in new construction or retrofit projects, and a strong aptitude for application engineering, programming, and commissioning.

Preference will be given to candidates with controls, software, IT/OT networking experience and, in your new role as a Controls Engineer, you will support the project lifecycle initiatives from early-stage site visits, design development to onsite execution and commissioning.

The successful candidate will work closely with its own department, the Project Management Office and provide feedback to Sales along with the external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects aligned with contractual obligations, technical specifications and customer goals.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Technical Coordination


•Perform initial site visits with the sales team to do a handover to analyze site condition to lead into the design phase of the project.


•Liaise with internal departments and clients to establish project timelines, deliverables, and execution plans.


•Provide regular updates on project status and resolve project-related issues proactively.


•Handle site coordination and take ownership of the technical and execution aspects of projects.


•Work within the established hours set for the project


•Facilitate coordination between the electrical team and lead commissioning meetings on behalf of the company


•Develop and manage electrical deficiencies lists with the foreman, ensuring readiness before subsequent site visits.

Design & Engineering Support


•Work under the guidance of the Design Engineering Manager to perform application engineering project designs.


•Design and/or review technical documentation, control drawings, sequences of operation, and submittals.


•Assist in site surveys and audits to collect information for system design and integration.


•Maintain thorough technical understanding and actively participate in weekly/monthly domain discussions to stay informed.


•Lead in the design of point lists and sequences, ensuring correct tagging and readiness for end-to-end testing.

Project Execution & Commissioning


•Program, configure, and commission DDC and building automation control systems.


•Perform hands-on implementation of including controllers and system integration and work with other vendors of system start-ups.


•Conduct functional testing and troubleshooting to verify performance against design and operational criteria.


•Review and edit graphics to ensure schematics, dashboards and points shown are accurate


•Ensure all project deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.


•Maintain trend logs, alarm logs, and scheduling; utilize trend logs to validate system functionality and avoid unnecessary rework.


•Verifies and ensures all bench tested solutions are deployed and completed correctly and where necessary, completes technical in field adjustments to complete deployment.


•Ensures and reports on project progress to project management team

Customer Interaction & Support


•Interface directly with customers and contractors to communicate project plans, resolve issues, and provide technical guidance.


•Provide training and support to building operators and end users on installed systems.


•Support sales and service teams with technical input on new retrofit opportunities or change orders.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS OR COMPETENCIES:


•Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls or Computer Engineering or equivalent.


•5+ years of experience in HVAC controls, service retrofits, or building automation.


•Demonstrated ability to program and commission DDC systems (e.g., Tridium/Niagara, Distech, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Siemens.
