On-Call (As Needed) Snow Clearing Operator

Penn Energy Renewables, ULC is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the On-Call Snow Control Operator position in the Southern Ontario area (Cobourg/Port Hope/Lindsay/Uxbridge). Each property consists of a solar power-generating facility (a Solar Farm), surrounding lands with houses, snow and vegetation maintenance equipment, and company vehicles. Penn actively maintains all generating facilities, equipment, vehicles, and land within the property boundaries.
Position Description
The On-Call Snow Control Operator's objective is to clear snow at Penn owned properties according to Penn's standards. The On-Call Snow Control Operator will clear snow as required, maintain equipment, report inventory usage, and complete work orders and reports.
Job Type
This is a part time, on-call, contract position beginning as soon as possible, and concluding at the end of snow season (approx. March 30, Hours will be solely weather based. Penn will aim to give as much notice as possible to the candidate when snow clearing is required, but this will be treated as an On-Call, as needed position.
Primary Work Duties
The On-Call Snow Control Operator will be responsible for a variety of work duties including but not limited to the following:
- Perform snow clearing of the panels using the latest techniques.
- Perform snow clearing of the Solar Farm entrances, internal roads, E-house and I-house pads.
- Perform snow clearing at the company's houses or other facilities.
- Evaluate snow accumulation on solar panels and report findings.
- Perform routine inspections of the maintenance equipment and complete inspection reports as required.
- Maintain and repair equipment as required, including the identifying and ordering parts through the O&M Administrator.
- Complete work orders, inventory, and reporting, through applicable software.
- Perform routine maintenance or repairs to the property, houses, or facilities.
- Maintain friendly and cooperative "good neighbour" relations with neighbouring landowners, and the community.
- Maintain relations with farmers that have leased or may in the future lease Penn owned land for agricultural purposes. Ensure farm access is maintained.
Skill Requirements:
- Mechanical skills and experience: operating, maintaining and repairing Kubota machines, power tools, hand-held equipment and other tools.
- Have the ability to operate a computer and related software (Microsoft Office).
- Work consistently in all-weather environments and independently (willing and comfortable working alone, in a team setting and in tandem).
- Punctual.
- Able to work in a physically demanding environment and lift up to 60lbs.
- Able to follow written and verbal directions, and take initiative when items are missed.
- Strong communication and grammar skills (written & verbal).
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
- Able to understand and follow all safety policies and procedures regarding working around electricity.
- Able to work in a safe manner. Health and Safety to be conducted by following task and equipment specific policies and procedures and attending training for the position.
The successful candidate will:
- Have at least 5 years' experience with snow removal.
- Be willing to work extended and/or flexible hours with little notice.
- Have a full G license with a clean driving record, and reliable transportation, an AZ or AR license would be an asset
- Have reliable means of communication (cell phone).
- Be located reasonably to Cobourg/Port Hope/Lindsay/Uxbridge
- Be willing to work non-standard start and end times to complete work based on weather or other conditions from time to time. i.e. snow removal in the evenings or through the night.
