Aquatics & Recreation Coordinator – Contract up to 14 Months – 1 Vacancy

LOCATION: Initial placement – Brant Sports Complex, Paris
Minimum Qualifications:
- Post secondary school education in recreation or related field
- 2 years of experience in aquatics or a recreational setting with child and youth ages or similar
- Previous supervision in an Aquatics setting or previous supervisory experience.
- Current National Lifeguard, LSS Lifesaving & Swim Instructors Certification
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR and AED certification
- Demonstrated excellent public relation skills
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
- Experience supporting participants with diverse abilities in inclusive recreational or educational environments
- Dedicated to a high degree of professionalism and setting standards of excellence
- Ability to interpret and apply applicable provincial and federal legislation including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ontario Public Pool Regulations
- Knowledge and experience working in an aquatics/recreational program setting
- Ability to travel between County facilities, work a flexible schedule and meet deadlines
- Valid Class G Drivers License and Driver's Abstract
- Current Vulnerable Sector Police Records check
- Pool Operators Certification
- Member of Parks & Recreation Ontario
- Member of Ontario Recreation Facilities Association
- Experience with Active Net Recreation Software System
- LSS advanced Instructor & Examiner Certifications (NL, First Aid, Instructor Trainer, Bronze Examiners)
- LSS Aquatic Supervisor training
- To support the objectives and philosophies of the County of Brant Recreation Services Division
- Oversee the operations, lifecycle, programs/service delivery and staffing for the Paris Community Pool & Splashpad and the County of Brant's Youth and Fair Brant programming portfolio
- To display knowledge, skills and abilities which provide competent leadership in Aquatics Programming and Recreational programming and related areas
- To be available as a knowledgeable resource to program participants, parents, and staff of the Paris Community Pool and Recreation Programs
- Complete all administrative functions for the Paris Community Pool & Splashpad, including but not limited to program planning, ordering supplies, and ensuring a safe working environment
- Responsible for the supervision, recruitment, training, development, and evaluation of staff /volunteers for the Paris Community Pool & Splashpad and related recreation programs
- Assist with the establishment and enforcement of policies and procedures for the Paris Community Pool & Splashpad and other recreation programs and services as needed
- To ensure on-going evaluation of aquatics programs, recreation programming and staff through the Parks & Recreation evaluation program
- To purchase aquatic and recreation program supplies and equipment and keep current inventory
- To assist with capital and operating budgets for the Paris Community Pool & Splashpad and recreation programs
- Liaise with Lifesaving Society (Ontario) in maintaining up to date program and service standards
- To assist with other Recreation Services Division supported events, programs as required
- Other duties as assigned
