Senior Sterling Developer, Global Payment Technology

The role:

Contributes to the overall success of the Global Payment Technology globally by designing, developing, and implementing applications using Shell Scripting, Python, java technologies (e.g. SpringBoot, Hibernate, JPA, etc.) and majorly IBM Managed File Transfer to support business requirements for payment processing systems.  

What will you do?

Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.Work with the IBM Suite of Managed File Transfer products: IBM Sterling Integrator; IBM Sterling Secure Proxy; IBM Sterling External Authentication Server ; IBM Control Center ; IBM Global Mailbox Develop business processes (BPML), XSLT, XSD and custom Java developmentConduct testing of new software releases to ensure successful implementation with no impact to existing code basePartner with other functional and delivery teams to research and design the appropriate solution for the different business requirements.Ensure quality of the solutions are robust, scalable, and efficient to meet the needs of the business. Ability to learn new technology and being able to do production support and off hours pager duty at least one week every monthMonitor system performance, troubleshooting and fixing errorsWork in a cross functional Agile team to deliver core business and regulatory solutionsUnderstand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.Champion a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.

What do you need to succeed?

Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, business, Information sciences or other related field5+ years of experience in support and development on the Sterling MFT Suite of products.Must have working knowledge of communication protocolsMust have working experience building microservices, webservices and SOAPMust have extensive knowledge of different data formats like JSON, XMLKnowledge of DB2 Database and IBM WebSphere MQ concept and functionality would be goodProficient in using Unix, AIX, Windows Operating systemKnowledge of backend webservices, SOAP and communication protocol (SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, AS2, Connect Direct)Must be open to do production support and be ready to carry pager for off-hours support for at least one week in a monthMust have experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsTeam is constantly experimenting with new technologies, so it is important to have high level of tolerance for ambiguityWorking experience with Agile delivery methodologies.
