You are responsible for guiding the architecture, design, and delivery of FPGA-based systems while overseeing cross-functional collaboration with software and verification teams. Some of these perks include flexible hours, generous paid time off, fitness/wellness allowance, employee share ownership program, professional development support, and moreWhat the job is all about:Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of FPGA, software, and verification engineers in the development of Ross Video's next-generation broadcast and video processing solutions.Define FPGA architectures, technology direction, and development methodologies in collaboration with product management, hardware, and software teams.Drive FPGA design execution - from planning and implementation to verification, integration, and release - ensuring quality, performance, and alignment with product goals.Establish and maintain best practices for coding standards, reviews, simulation, and continuous integration workflows.Support cross-functional design efforts involving software, hardware, DevOps, and QA teams, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, promoting growth, engagement, and accountability.Contribute to strategic planning by evaluating new FPGA technologies, EDA tools, and verification methodologies to improve design productivity and efficiency.Represent the FPGA function in technical discussions, design reviews, and program management activities, ensuring alignment with Ross Video's technology roadmap.Leadership & Management ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of quality and efficiency.Supervise and coordinate staff activities: Task scheduling, progress monitoring, and verification of work.Oversee hiring and performance reviews; facilitate career development and training initiatives.Ensure team roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and understood.Technical & Project OversightGuide the development of design specifications in collaboration with product managers, software, hardware teams, and client stakeholder groups.Plan and oversee product development activities to meet business and customer objectives.Participate in architecture definition, technical proposals, and cost estimation.Review testing protocols and verify results for compliance and functionality.Ensure team follows best design practices such as code inspections and integration efforts.Advise management on development strategies, toolsets, methodologies, and design guidelines.Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with Engineering, NPI, and other internal stakeholder groups.Respond to internal issues related to design projects (software, drafting, manufacturing, test, tech support).Lead cross-functional problem-solving initiatives.Manage 3rd-party relationships and coordinate cross-company initiatives.Communicate design requirements, status, and issues effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.Product & Domain ExpertiseDevelop deep expertise in Ross Video products through documentation review, hands-on experience, and collaboration with technical personnel.Who you are:An experienced technical leader with a proven record of delivering complex FPGA systems and leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.You bring deep technical expertise and leadership to FPGA design and verification, coupled with a passion for mentoring others and driving innovation.Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent).Minimum 10 years of direct electronics design experience.Strong background in FPGA design, including: Serial interfaces ,High-speed digital design, Power and thermal design, Part selection and device architectureExperience with high-speed protocols and devices: Latest generation DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, USB-C, HDMI, DisplayPort, SDI or other video broadcast interfaces (preferred)Familiarity with signal integrity, ESD, EMI, and RF design principles.Proficiency with signal analysis tools: GHz+ oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, VNAs, signal generatorsHands-on debugging experience with scopes, logic analyzers, JTAG pods, emulators, and television test equipment.Knowledge of Verilog, RTL, or HLS (asset).Proficient in FPGA design and verification using modern toolchains (Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, ModelSim, QuestaSim) and methodologies such as UVM and CI/CD-based regression environments.Skilled in scripting and automation (Python, Tcl, or Bash) for design and verification efficiency.Experienced in managing and mentoring technical staff, conducting performance reviews, and supporting professional development.Excellent communicator with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.Equity, Diversity & InclusionAt Ross, we embrace diversity, and we want you to bring your authentic self to work. We are committed to building a team that includes a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.
