Position Overview
Autodesk is looking for an innovative and dynamic AI and ML Engineering Director to define the AI technical strategy for our AIR organization. This role involves leading teams of AI engineers to develop cutting-edge agentic AI and machine learning projects aimed at enhancing AutoCAD and Infrastructure products, such as Civil3D. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, deep technical expertise in AI and ML, and a proven track record of driving innovation within the field.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Define and implement the AI technical strategy for the AIR org, aligning it with Autodesk's broader technical goals and business objectives
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing AI teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment to deliver state-of-the-art solutions
- Project Management: Oversee the development and execution of AI and machine learning projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with product requirements
- Innovation and Development: Drive the research and development of new AI technologies and their application within AutoCAD and Infrastructure products like Civil3D
- Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and design, to seamlessly integrate AI solutions into our product offerings
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate technical strategies, progress, and outcomes to key stakeholders across the organization
- Quality Standards: Ensure the highest quality standards in AI and ML model development, testing, and deployment
- Thought Leadership: Represent Autodesk at industry conferences, workshops, and within professional networks to stay at the forefront of advancements in AI/ML technology
Minimum Qualifications
- Educational Background: Major in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in AI/ML engineering roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position
- Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of AI/ML algorithms, frameworks, and tools, with experience in developing AI solutions for software products
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the needs and challenges within the infrastructure and reality capture domains
- Leadership: Proven experience in leading and scaling high-performing AI/ML teams
- Collaboration: Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges and drive innovative solutions
- Visionary: Ability to think strategically about the future of AI and its application in the design and infrastructure industries
