Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pharmacy operations, particularly in long-term care (LTC) and acute care settings. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting patient care by ensuring the safe and effective administration of medications while providing exceptional service to patients and healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including intravenous (IV) infusions, while adhering to aseptic techniques.
  • Provide patient service by addressing inquiries regarding medications, dosages, and potential side effects with clarity and professionalism.
  • Maintain accurate medication records and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards within the pharmacy.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate medication intake processes for patients in critical care environments.
  • Utilize medical terminology effectively to communicate with healthcare professionals regarding patient needs and medication management.
  • Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels of medications and supplies, ensuring timely replenishment as needed.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives to enhance pharmacy operations and improve patient outcomes.
  • Foster a positive working environment that promotes teamwork and continuous improvement within the pharmacy team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a hospital or LTC pharmacy setting.
  • Familiarity with IV infusion preparation and administration techniques is essential.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology related to pharmacology and patient care practices.
  • Experience in acute care environments is highly desirable, along with critical care experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent patient service while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques and adherence to safety protocols in medication handling.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with pharmacists, healthcare providers, and patients.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
