Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada.

Reporting to the Senior Strategic Planning Engineer, the successful candidate will work 7:7 roaster and will be responsible for providing mid range designs and quarterly mine forecasts to support the safe development of the mine to achieve and surpass production targets while adding value to the Red Lake Madsen mine.

The Focus Of This Role Will Include

  • Collaborate with Geology to plan definition infill drilling programs based on geological confidence of material and mining sequence approved in the budget to ensure timely mid range designs generation to support operations to deliver the approved budget
  • Generation of conceptual designs for capital developments and stopes in collaboration with geology, Geotech, ventilation and mine operations to approve operationally feasible designs and long hole drilling strategies at least 12 months ahead of short term planning
  • Generation of master layouts to guide the development of mining blocks
  • Lead all projects execution planning and schedules
  • Update and Maintain the annual water management plan for the mine
  • Generation of quarterly forecasts to assess budget execution strategies and provide mitigation plans when needed to support achieving the approved mine budget
  • Perform weekly underground tours to assess underground workings state to advice needed actions to support timely development extensions from those headings or project execution within such locations

Skills And Experience

  • A B.Sc Mining Engineering or equivalent is essential and a P.Eng. qualification is a must have or ability to gain P.Eng.
  • Experience in long hole designs and project management are desirable
  • Self-starter, strong collaboration skills and effective presentation skills
  • Ability to maintain strong communication network between engineering and other department heads
  • 3-5 years experience with conventional and mechanized underground mining methods and exposure to paste fills, consolidated rock fill and unconsolidated rock fill
  • Advanced competence in the use of Deswik mine planning software to generate optimized mine designs and schedules
  • Strong knowledge of exploration methods and resource estimation
  • Smart problem-solving techniques and 3D visualization skills are essential
