Job Title: API Tester (Credit Card Domain)

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 3 Days/Week Onsite)

Type: Long-Term Contract

Experience: 8+ Years

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced API Tester with deep knowledge of the Credit Card domain and hands-on TSYS platform experience (Issuer/Processor). The ideal candidate will validate APIs across credit card processing, transactions, ledgering, account setup, disputes, and payment workflows. Strong functional testing, API validation, and domain expertise in TSYS are essential.

Key Responsibilities

API Functional Testing

Design, execute, and maintain API test cases for REST/SOAP-based services.

Validate request/response payloads, error codes, authentication, and edge cases.

Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end API testing.

Credit Card Domain Testing

Test APIs related to:

Card issuance & activation

Authorizations & settlements

Credit card transactions (POS/e-commerce)

Payments, refunds, chargebacks

Disputes, reversals, and interest calculations

Validate workflows as per TSYS (Total System Services) platform behavior.

TSYS Platform Expertise

Work with TSYS TS2 or similar tools for credit card processing validations.

Validate transaction postings, clearing records, account setup, and GL entries.

Test TSYS backend processes, batch jobs, and message flows.

Tools & Automation

Use Postman, SOAPUI, or similar tools for API testing.

Use JSON/XML for payload validations.

Execute automated API tests using Postman/Newman or any framework (optional).

Defect Management & Collaboration

Log and track defects using JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.

Collaborate with developers, product owners, architects, and card operations teams.

Participate in daily scrum meetings and provide status updates.

Required Skills & Qualifications

8–10+ years of QA/testing experience.

Mandatory: Strong hands-on experience in the Credit Card domain.

Mandatory: Practical experience with TSYS platform / TS2 tools.

Strong experience with API functional testing (REST/SOAP).

Expertise using Postman, SOAPUI, Swagger, JSON/XML.

Solid understanding of credit card lifecycle processes (origination servicing collections).

Familiarity with authorization flows, ledgering, scheme messages, and settlement logic.

Strong knowledge of SQL for backend validations.

Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Excellent analytical, debugging, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience testing APIs in cloud environments (Azure/AWS).

Experience with API automation frameworks (Rest Assured, Karate, etc.).

Experience with transaction monitoring tools or payment gateways.
