At this facility, under a shared services model, is one of Alberta Health Services five specialized Neurophysiology Laboratories in the Edmonton Zone. The Electroneurophysiology (ENP) Technologist I performs standard neurophysiology tests on adults, children and infants. This includes EEG, long term video monitoring and may include Evoked Potentials. The EEG Technologist I will primarily carry out EEG studies to support service delivery within the Clinical Neurophysiology program and will perform testing in an outpatient setting, in the ICU and emergency departments. This is skilled technical work involving the measurement and recording of brain waves to obtain data to assist in the diagnosis of neurological disorders. The ENP Technologist I works collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary health care team, utilizing the principles of family centered care, meeting the diagnostic needs of this patient population. Relocation assistance may be offered for eligible candidates in accordance with AHS policy.

Description:

As an Electroneurophysiology (ENP) Technologist, you will perform appropriate tests on all age groups, utilizing a variety of electrode application methods and explain testing procedures to clients/patients and family. You will observe physical changes in the patient during testing, prepare results and/or interprets findings for/with physician. You will prepare, update and maintain patient records. You will ensure proper operation of equipment by performing maintenance, calibration, cleaning and detect any equipment malfunction, make minor repairs or report the need for major repairs to the appropriate person. You will inform the physician of urgent examination results and resolve unusual or complex cases or refers concerns to the appropriate individual(s).

Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Registered or eligible for registration with the CBRET (EEG). Diploma or Degree from an accredited electrophysiology program (in lieu of a Diploma or Degree, 2 years full time experience in a Neurophysiology lab maybe considered). CPR certification. Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills with patients, families and other staff. Ability to work collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrates ability to be flexible in dealing with changing/unpredictable situations. Transferring of patients and equipment is required. Demonstrated understanding of a Family Centered Care Service delivery model.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in clinical Neurophysiology in a pediatric and adult settings preferred.
