Job Description: In the framework of Primary Health Care (PHC) Networks, aligned with PHC clinical counselling model and under the direction of the Program Manager, the Social Worker (BSW) Senior provides focused mental health and addictions clinical services, evaluation and consultation to KidsFirst prenatal/postnatal moms/their families through culturally-responsive care. The incumbent provides information on the KidsFirst program and collaborate with Health Authority staff to identify children/families who would benefit from ongoing in-home intervention/support. The incumbent ensures a collaborative, respectful relationship with other employees. This position provides consultation, education, and training within the KidsFirst team and mental health and addictions services. Is a resource for other professionals on the team.

- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)
Experience
- Requires a minimum of two (2) year (postgraduate) recent recognized clinical experience in an community program working with children, youth and families with acute and/or chronic mental health diagnoses within the community.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in social work intervention methodologies including family systems theory, therapy, group work and case management.
- Extensive knowledge of normal child development and psychopathology. Extensive knowledge of models of therapeutic interventions appropriate to the treatment of children's mental health and family functioning. Knowledge of interventions empirically validated or supported by best practices literature.
- Comprehensive knowledge of assessment and therapeutic interventions appropriate to the recovery process of chemically dependent/at risk populations base on current best practice models.
- Significant experience in providing therapeutic intervention strategies appropriate to the treatment of children's mental health concerns and family functioning and demonstrated skill in conducting individual and family therapy, group treatment, case management and recovery interventions/programs.
- Extensive knowledge of assessment and treatment techniques appropriate to an aboriginal/multicultural population.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the area of complementary First Nations traditional healing.
- Extensive Knowledge of Indigenous culture, values and traditions and their impact on accessing mental health/alcohol and drug services.
- Knowledge of the diversity of cultures, values and traditions and their impact on accessing mental health services.
- Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively as a member of a multidisciplinary team and ability to independently manage complex and multiple demands while co-coordinating workload.
- Excellent leadership skills and abilities and professional maturity to develop and maintain relationships within a multidisciplinary team, interagency programs and across the community of human services.
- Strong facilitation skills to lead information session on KidsFirst program and services
- Demonstrated ability to engage in community program consultation and resource development within the community.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to document in a concise and timely manner. Ability to provide public presentation and professional training
- Excellent interpersonal competence including effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills, and an ability to respond under pressure.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Services Act, the Family Services Act and the Saskatchewan Model of Recovery.
- A demonstrated working knowledge of the social determinants of health and the effect they have on health outcomes
- Significant knowledge of and experience with utilizing a range of social/environmental assessment models with children and families.
- Ability to design, conduct and evaluate education and training opportunities related to the mental health of children and their families to various targeted audiences.
- Demonstrated skill in the area of research and resource development.
- Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer database systems.
- Knowledge and practical application of the Health Information Protection Act and other legislation that impacts the work of clinicians in clinical settings Ability to cope with stress.
- Ability and willingness to travel, work evenings/weekends as required and maintain a valid drivers license.
Other Information
- This is a community based position providing services in clinic and home settings. Travel required to various community sites within the Primary Health Care Networks (Regina). Home base for this position is: th Avenue.
- Must have current practicing registration with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW)
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet client and operational needs.
- Requires a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for use as needed.
