The Director of Data Strategy, Analytics, and Quality will be accountable for the strategic leadership of system planning, data and performance management, quality improvement, and client and family engagement across the southwest region. The position requires an individual with outstanding relationship-building, engagement, and consultation skills, as well as a strong ability to think strategically. They must also demonstrate a capacity to understand data and implement quality improvements that drive action.

Education/Training/Experience:

  • Master's degree in health administration, social sciences, MBA, or equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience in health system planning, leading and implementing quality improvement, in a healthcare or community setting.
  • Quality improvement training from the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI), Black Belt certification in LEAN and/or Six Sigma is an asset.
  • 8 -10 years of senior leadership experience, with proven success in leading leaders.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, Project Management Professional Certification (PMP).
  • Commitment to incorporating cultural competence and equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging into all aspects of work.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Teams).

Role and Responsibilities:

Leadership and Corporate Responsibilities 

  • Leads a high-performing quality and lead agency team responsible for system planning, performance management, and quality improvement to deliver impactful results.
  • Partners with the members of the Executive Leadership team to build and sustain the organizational culture of quality and accountability, excellence in clinical services, client engagement, and equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Demonstrates and promotes stewardship of financial and organizational resources.
  • Demonstrates alignment with Vanier's strategic plan, mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Ensures full compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies and procedures.

Data Strategy and Analytics

  • Responsible for the collection, collation, analysis, and reporting of data for both internal and external purposes. This includes data from various clinical and outcome measurement tools, such as Greenspace and interRAI. The role involves ensuring data accuracy, identifying trends, and preparing reports to support program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance with reporting requirements from funders and oversight bodies.
  • Champions client engagement culture and approach within the organization and the Children's Mental Health sector. Embeds client engagement approach and health equity lens to organizational quality improvement projects and initiatives while leading the agency's client and caregiver engagement initiatives and providing oversight to client satisfaction survey systems.
  • Responsible for leading the development of proposals and business cases for data & analytics initiatives, supporting and executing on the decision-making. The role involves ensuring data accuracy, identifying trends, and preparing reports to support program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance with reporting requirements from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Community and Social Services, and other funders.
  • Responsible for promoting analytic usage and skills among management and employees through training, mentoring, and the selection of appropriate analytics tools. Works collaboratively with Executive Leaders and the Board on the balanced scorecard to track the organization's performance.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate testing, and optimization. You will apply expertise in quantitative and qualitative analysis and data presentation to see beyond the numbers and advise and influence others internally and externally.

Quality Improvement

  • Leads the development of an annual quality improvement plan, directing the implementation of initiatives and projects to enhance quality within the organization and with community partners, in our role as the lead agency.
  • Champions quality improvement throughout the organization by leading initiatives such as LEAN and Six Sigma to enhance efficiency and reduce waste, resulting in better quality of care for children and families. Leads large complex projects.
  • Leads accreditation with CARF and ensures follow-up and sustainability between accreditation cycles and site visits.
  • Provides leadership for a continuous improvement process to review and update Vanier policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislative and licensing requirements.
  • Supports the Clinical Leadership team in preparing for the annual live-in treatment MCCSS licensing application process and reviews.
  • Provides expert knowledge of evaluation frameworks and process and outcome evaluation, quality improvement models, and approaches (e.g., Lean, IHI Model for Improvement) and diagnostic methods (e.g., Ishikawa diagram, Process Mapping).

Lead Agency

  • Foster's relationships with leaders working in children's mental health, child welfare, primary care, education, hospitals, and government in the southwest region and at the provincial level.
  • Participates in provincial children's mental health working groups and leads agency communities of practice.
  • Leads the development of a community-based multi-year strategic plan, projects, and monitors, tracks, and reports performance regularly with children's mental health partners.
