Position Summary

Working within the Family Resource Network (FRN) team, the Family Wellness Worker will provide outreach support to families in their homes and deliver psychoeducational groups in the communities of Fort Saskatchewan and Sturgeon Region. All FRN team members work within the Government of Alberta's Well-Being and Resiliency Framework:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support families with children ages 0-18 years in their homes and in community settings who have identified complex needs
- Build healthy relationships with families, community partners and the Families First team
- Support caregiver – child attachment through active listening, education, and referrals
- Use appropriate screenings to support optimal development
- Engage caregivers and children in capacity building and goal setting
- Coordinate wrap-around support when appropriate with other service providers
- Provide support and parenting strategies through a trauma-informed and individualized lens
- Support caregivers to navigate complicated systems as needed
- Advocate for families to access the supports they require
- Build knowledge and awareness of the Fort Saskatchewan and Sturgeon Region communities as well as the services they offer
- Coordinate and facilitate psycho-educational programming to meet current community needs by reporting on trends and gaps in the services offered
- Build hope and resilience in families and our team
- Work effectively both within a team and independently
- Build collaborative partnerships with families and other stakeholders
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in human services field
- Registration with your regulatory body if applicable
- At least 2 years of experience supporting children and families
- Connect Parent, Triple P, Circle of Security, Kids Have Stress Too considered an asset
- Strong understanding of brain science, attachment theory, child/adult development, trauma, and impacts of violence, and resiliency
- Access to a reliable vehicle and willing to travel throughout the Sturgeon Region to support clients (potential travel up to 60% of each day)
- Ability and willingness to work evenings/weekends as needed for programming needs and for client meetings (if needed).
- Ability to provide criminal record check and intervention record check
- Willingness to embrace the culture and values of Families First Society
- Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action
