WSIB Claims Specialist

The WSIB Claims Specialist will support full cycle WSIB worker's compensation claim management and represent HHS in WSIB and WSIAT hearings. The incumbent will provide WSIB support and guidance to address individual claims, contain WSIB related costs and positively impact WSIB premiums.
With a strong foundation in Ontario's WSIB processes and appeals, the ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 5 years of experience in written and oral hearings. Experience in case managing workplace injuries in Ontario is essential.
The incumbent will continually enhance and champion WSIB Claims management approaches, as well as WSIB disability management and return to work strategies at HHS.
- Undergraduate degree in a related field
- Five years' experience in written and oral hearings, WSIB appeals and WSIAT representation
- Certified Disability Management Professional, Certified Return to Work Coordinator designation, Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) preferred
- Five years or more of progressive experience in disability management and return to work
- Knowledge and proven understanding of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code
- Mediation/conflict resolution training an asset
- Strong understanding of Ontario's workplace injury and workers' compensation legislation.
- Excellent legal drafting and advocacy skills for drafting submissions and preparing persuasive case arguments.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in managing complex cases and interpreting legal documents.
- Excellent oral and written communication ability to clearly articulate complex matters in a concise manner, with strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, WSIB, WSIAT and other stakeholders.
- Ability to navigate live meetings in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in unionized environments.
- Efficient with time and excellent with prioritization; keeps an organized schedule.
- Ability to work and make decisions independently.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Adaptability to a changing work environment.
