Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Senior Welder to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in welding within fabrication environments, demonstrating proficiency in various welding techniques and blueprint reading. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication processes, and safety standards. The Senior Welder will be responsible for executing complex welding projects, ensuring quality workmanship, and adhering to project specifications .

This position offers an opportunity for experienced welders with a certification background to contribute significantly to high-quality manufacturing projects across construction sites or industrial facilities. The role demands precision craftsmanship combined with safety-conscious practices essential for successful project completion.

Remuneration: Hourly $25.00 to $32.00 to commensurate with experience

Shifts: Steady days but must be available for afternoons when required

Expected start: January 5, 2025

Education and Experience:

· Completion of formal apprenticeship, extensive training program in a vocational school, or on-the-job training program.

· Proven Experience as a journey level welder using a variety of welding techniques.

· Holds a CWB/Certificate of Qualification/Red Seal Journeyperson (need to provide documentation)

Key Responsibilities:

· Technical Interpretation: Read and accurately interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and welding symbols.

· Prototypes: Build Prototypes

· Preparation & Setup: Clean, cut, and prepare metal surfaces; select and set up appropriate welding equipment and materials.

· Equipment Knowledge: Proficient in the operation of hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment efficiently.

· Welding Execution: Perform precise welds in various positions (flat, vertical, overhead), monitoring heat, penetration, and fusion.

· Leadership and Training Skills: Ability to lead a group of welders; assign and directs work (assist in training)

· Quality Control & Inspection: Conduct thorough visual and non-destructive inspections of welds for defects, ensuring conformance to print and industry standards. Responsible for final quality sign off on completed programs.

· Finishing & Assembly: Grind, smooth, and finish welds for cosmetic appeal and functional fit; assemble parts using clamps, jigs, and fixtures.

· Equipment Management: Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot welding machines and related tools.

· Safety Compliance: Strictly follow all safety protocols, use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and identify hazards.

Qualifications & Skills:

· Proven experience in welding various metals (steel, aluminum, etc.).

· Proficiency in all welding formats.

· Strong understanding of welding symbols, blueprints, and quality inspection.

· Familiar with ISO standards and requirements

· Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.

· Relevant certifications required.

Work/Physical Environment:

· Indoor/outdoor work environment

· Seasonal hot/cold weather

· Very loud noise from equipment

· Move about the facility to conduct work, including climbing, crawling, balancing, bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, crouching and remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time

· Transport, move, and lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds

Reporting:

Reports to the Operations Manager.
